Today brings the end of another election year and I can honestly say that for me it has been a little less than pleasurable. I enjoy electing another leader for our country, however with all of the name calling and speculations, its been harder to remain focused on the end result.
“Electing our next president.”
Change is good. Forward movement. New goals, agendas, schedules, people in office, new ideas, fresh start. But, not everyone sees things the way I do.
Doctors and statistics are showing that more and more people are suffering headaches, anxiety, stress, along with other symptoms. These are alarming results and I feel so sad to hear that Americans are so affected this time around. Even after the election, there will be those who still report some of these symptoms.
No matter who our next president is, Jesus is King. He reigns over everything. He knows exactly why this election is going the way that it is, as well as who will win the nomination. Its no surprise to him.
Wow. Once I truly thought about this, it made me smile. It gave me some relief. I felt like I wanted to go out and encourage others and let them know that regardless of the outcome, Jesus remains on the throne. I wanted to go pass out stickers to local people letting them know that the #1 thing to remember is OUR GOD REIGNS. You don’t have to feel the pressure of life circumstances because its not up to us to carry the weight of this world.
I can remember back to the year 2012 when we were facing the re-election of Obama and how nervous I was. I really believe that he is a fascinating president and would win the nomination, however, the whole process of going through the cycle had my in shambles. It was a relief to know he was nominated to serve another 4 years and so our lives went back to the daily grind. I prayed for the best outcome and that was all I could do.
As for this time around, the same remains. Prayer can take you, us, this country farther than we can ever imagine.
No matter who wins the election this year, Hilary or Trump, we should remain in constant prayer for their decisions, their focus, vision, wisdom, leadership, hope, faith, and dreams, and actions for the future of our country. If you are reading, you may be married, w/ children, or single, but non-the-case, I pray for our children. Our children will be affected by this presidency one way or another. Our families, neighbors, friends, households, schools, hospitals, healthcare, communities, and the economy. Prayer is so vital in such a time as this. I would also remind you to pray for the new presidents cabinet, the Supreme courts, all their council, and local and state officials.
The whole country will be affected by the election but remember the one thing that remains constant.
Jesus is King. Lord. Savior. Sovereign. Comforter. Healer. Supplier of all needs.
I want you to read this chapter in Psalms and I pray it gives you comfort as you go about your day…
The Lord is King! He is robed in majesty.
Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength.
The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.
Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial.
You yourself are from the everlasting past.
The floods have risen up, O Lord.
The floods have roared like thunder;
the floods have lifted their pounding waves.
But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,
mightier than the breakers on the shore-
the Lord above is mightier than these!
Your royal laws cannot be changed. Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.
